Corporate Wellness Guide for Employers

In this modern era, corporate wellness or workplace wellness is an important term which is often used. It actually measures the healthy atmosphere of the workplace. The authority or the organization designed or introduced many programs for employee's benefit. This culture is actually a holistic system where every essential element should be blended properly. To ensure corporate wellness is one of the main parts of the leadership skill. If the employees are happy and satisfied, it will be easier to achieve the company’s target. So, companies are also focusing on employees’ wellness.

Start a corporate wellness program

Set goals: Always set goals before taking any new step. Think about the pros and cons of the program. You should think about your company’s objective first. Select such a program which will be beneficial for both the company and employees. Always keep the budget in mind. Follow a proper plan and strategies to get the required result.

Employees’ needs: Employees are the most important part of any workplace. So, to get a healthy environment, their well-being is needed to be ensured. Wellness is related to physical, emotional, social, mental, environmental and financial factors. If any factor does not work properly, the level of wellbeing will be hampered. So, the companies should keep all these factors in mind before planning the program.

Survey to evaluate: A survey is the best way to know the actual needs and problems of the employees. By going through the survey, many ideas for wellness will be discovered. Also, the problem areas will be identified. The employees can also vote to choose the best program for them.

Select a dedicated team: A corporate wellness program is not a small and easy task. It needs a lot of time and effort to run smoothly. So, a separate team should be built for this work. The team must have skilled workers who are expert in understanding the employees’ needs and demands. Many companies hire a vendor for running the program. Those vendors have many easy offers and schemes. Go through their offered terms and resources to choose the best program. Work with an insurance company directly to know their policies and offers.

Communication: Proper communication must be there between the employer and the employees. The employees need to understand the importance of the wellness program. The schemes should be discussed and also a positive effect on their lives. Promote all the schemes. Always ask their feedback for future improvement. Take those feedbacks seriously and work to make it better.

Technology tool for the program: A technology tool will be very helpful to manage the program successfully. It will be easier for employees to keep track of their wellness. They can also choose the desired programs easily. The employers can also measure the popularity of the program and check the employees’ feedback. Update all the information about the wellness program on the company's website. Make wellness related presentation, prepare corporate wellness e-newsletters and post health tips/posters in the common areas.

Host wellness events: Try to host wellness events regularly for the employees and their families. It will be easier to promote every scheme. As an employer, it is important to make others understand how sincere you and your company are about their wellbeing. Ensure everyone’s presence at the event. Try to make it interesting with meaningful arrangements.

Healthy food: To keep good health and mind, eating is essential. Many workers choose to eat unhealthy lunch or snacks during lunch time. It is very harmful to health. The company can arrange delivery service for providing a fresh and healthy meal. Also, there should be enough time for having lunch peacefully and exchange pleasantries with different teams.

Professional development: Company has to be passionate about the professional development of every employee. Training, coaching, mentoring programs and seminars can be arranged to guide them properly. Various opportunities should be there to help them learn and grow. Paying salary on time, bonus and promotions are also very helpful to motivate them.

Fitness activities: Exercise or physical activity is useful to maintain good health. In the corporate workplace, employees need to work for a long time. Many companies provide an on-site gym, fitness sessions, swimming pool or in house sports arrangements. Also, discounted memberships for gyms or yoga can be arranged.

Health and safety: To ensure good health, free health check-up program can be arranged yearly. Also, free medical camps can ensure better health. The company can provide health insurance for any illness or serious injury. Health can also be affected because of abuse, stress, anxiety, and depression. Employers should give support to them who are facing these problems. Also, excessive work pressure is not good for health. The workload should be distributed efficiently.    
In many companies, employees are needed to engage in difficult duties. All the precautions must be taken for that. Necessary safety gears should be provided also. Many companies have transport facility. The office building should have all the safety facilities as well.

Taking a break: Working for long hours without any breaks or gaps can definitely make anyone exhausted. Small breaks with having tea or coffee are helpful to boost up the energy level. Many companies have a flexible working schedule to ease work pressure. 

Vacation: In many companies, annual vacation is mandatory for everyone. To stay away from work and spend time with family is beneficial to be more productive. Also paid maternity and paternity leaves are provided.

Community service: Community service programs are arranged in many companies to promote helping others and co-operation. Doing good deeds and helping or volunteering can be beneficial to change the monotonous environment. This is helpful to grow the interpersonal relationships among employees. Employees can also arrange fundraiser programs to help others in a difficult situation.
A healthy and happy employee means a higher productivity rate, more motivation, passion, and dedication for work. So employers need to ensure corporate wellness for company’s benefit.
