corporate yoga – the modern yoga movement

When you offer Yoga or introduce it to the corporate people and they practice it in their workplace, it is called corporate yoga. Nowadays, in the corporate sector, yoga is becoming popular day by in the USA and around the world. Many companies are making awareness program for the people in the corporate world. This happens in the corporate world because the employees and employers are stressing or suffering from physical problems like obesity, which propels them to learn Yoga. There are two types of corporate yoga – non-profit yoga for the office people and the yoga for which companies pay. Companies take it as a part of their companies.

What is Yoga- it is a combination of spiritual, mental, and physical exercises or practices. Yoga is considered to be originated in India. Yoga is very popular in India and it holds philosophical traditions.  In the west, yoga is the modern form of Hatha yoga which consists of the postures that are called asanas. Yoga originated from the traditions and cultures of Hinduism in India. It is believed that the yoga masters from India introduced yoga to the western world. In the 1980s, a different form of modern yoga came and became popular in Indian, even in the western world as a part of their exercises. In India, it was not only an exercise, but the Indian people also got its spiritual benefits. Many survey or studies on yoga find the effectiveness of yoga on various kinds of diseases like cancer, schizophrenia, lung disease, etc. 

The modern movement of yoga

The modern yoga Renaissance gave birth to the modern yoga movement. The modern yoga started its journey to a new era with the combination of Hatha yoga posture and western gymnastic style. The modern yoga began in the 20th century with a mixture of western modern gymnastics’ postures and posture from Hatha yoga. Hatha yoga had very limited poses in the 17th century, and during the period, poses of Hatha yoga was not evaluated. The current yoga style and practices concentrate on asana and pranayama. These two movements of yoga were enough to introduce modern yoga to the modern world. These modern forms of yoga became successful to remove people’s stress and other physical problems. The modern yoga requires a commitment to practice regularly. Modern yoga probably has a complex relation to Hinduism. On the other hand, Christians cannot accept it. The Christians believe that Hindu’s relation to Yoga is invisible, not clear at all.

Asana is a modern yoga movement. It refers to a particular body posture. Asana is also a sitting yoga pose for meditation which comes from hatha yoga and modern yoga. It is an easy and comfortable posture for anyone. This is a very popular yoga pose in western countries. In the medieval period, the symbolical name of asana is 84. In the 17th century, asana had been a popular and vital part of Hatha yoga.

Hatha was popular to the contemporary people. Asana started to be practiced in 1920 and was popular among the Indian gurus or priests. It was performed by the Indian gurus. Form the 19th century, many of the yoga poses began to be practiced in the western gymnastics that gives a new turn to Yoga. That time the main purpose of Hatha Yoga was spiritual, but it had a perfunctory spiritual purpose. During that time physical and mental health was the main goal of Hatha yoga. Or some of the important components of Hatha Yoga were replaced by the new ones or vanished completely. Then, Hatha Yoga starts a new journey and began to be performed in schools and by women. In the modern world, you can see the use of different forms of asana in the western world.

Though modern yoga is almost different from old yoga, it still has spiritual meaning to modern people. Now yoga is performed with a view to exercising and getting relaxation, and you can find the taste of spirituality while performing yoga. The health benefit of yoga is scientifically proven which has been revealed in the modern era. Health benefits of yoga on the human body and mind have been a topic of systematic studies. Studies found the impact of yoga as an effective exercise to remove stress and mental agony. The practice of asanas has proven that it makes human mentality improves to stronger. Regular practice of yoga poses can reduce the chance of all kinds of diseases. A review has found that yoga has a better effect than other exercises on the human being. The modern movement in yoga is an alternative means of medication. For this reason, we are known to perform corporate yoga which engages the office going people in yoga poses. All kinds of people are getting benefited through the modern movement of yoga.

The modern yoga movements have varieties and are being used for various goals. In the modern movement, we can see a combination of different exercises with yoga for a different purpose. Today yoga has been a corporate business throughout the world. Many companies and corporate houses declare yoga as a part of their program or office work. As a result, the office going people and corporate people get benefited. With the emergence of the modern yoga movement, we can see the invention of modern corporate yoga practice. Yoga is now confined not only to a limited area but it has spread everywhere.
