Eyesight Problems, Symptoms and cure

Aug 22, 2019

As the age of technology is taking over, people are becoming more dependent on their gadgets, e.g. laptop, tablet or mobile phones, etc., and are constantly looking at these gadgets for either working or playing games. These gadgets emit harmful lights through their display screens which cause injury to the sensitive nerves in our eyes.

So, in the modern world, almost every 3rd person has an eyesight problem. Some problems are minor which get corrected after some time on their own or can be easily treated at home while some problems are very critical and require specialist treatment. No eyesight problem should be treated as minor since it may be minor right now but in the long run, these problems can become critical.

Here, we are giving some common issues with the eyes (causes of eye sight problems) and how you can solve these eyesight problems.

Eye Strain-

People who drive long distances, read books and novels for hours and work on computers for a long period mostly get affected by this problem. This happens due to the overuse of your eyes. Due to using them continuously for hours, they become tired like any other organ of our body and they need rest after this long usage. If you have strain or pain in your eyes after using them continuously for hours, give them some rest. If you think that the eyes are tired and have strain even after giving rest, you should check in with a doctor to be sure that there isn’t any other problem with them.

Night Blindness in the eyes-

Night blindness is a disease in which the individual finds it difficult to see things in less light. For example, they find it difficult to drive during nighttime or finding a way through dark areas. These are just the symptoms but not problems on their own. The cause of this night blindness can be cataracts, keratoconus, lack of vitamin A, etc. These types of eyesight problem can be easily fixed if you consult a good eye specialist.
Some individuals inherit these problems by birth or they are borne out of the degenerative diseases involving the retina. The biggest problem with these types of diseases is that they cannot be treated. If you have these symptoms, then you have to take extra care, especially when you go in a low light area.

Red Eyes-

In this eyesight problem, the eyes become blood hot red. The eye’s surface is formed of very minute blood vessels. These blood vessels expand whenever there is an infection in them or whenever they are irritated. Because of this, they become deep red in color. Other symptoms of this issue can be lack of sleep, eyestrain and sometimes allergies. If there is an injury to an eye, then they become red too. In this case, you should consult a doctor.

To get rid of this problem, use eye drops which can end up the allergies that are there in your eye. Taking sleep and resting your eye for some time can also be beneficial if you have a red eye problem.

Lazy Eye problem-

Amblyopia is another name of a lazy eye. This usually happens when one of the eyes is not developed properly. This eye which is having a problem in it does not have a proper vision and it tends to move very slowly or rather very lazily while the other eye functions properly. This problem is generally seen in adults, infants, and children. If you ever found this in children or infants, immediate treatment should be given for resolving this eyesight problem. If this disease is detected at an early stage in children and infants and proper treatment is given, then this problem can be solved. Treatment for this problem includes contact lenses, corrective glasses and using a patch or various other corrective measures so that the patient can use the eye having lazy eye disease.

Color Blindness-

In this condition, the patient is not able to tell the difference between certain colors or he can't see certain colors. This problem is more prominent with red and green colors. When the color cells in your eye are absent or do not function properly. In medical language, color cells are known as cone cells. When the condition becomes severe, then the patient only sees the shade of gray, but this type of condition is very rare.
Normally it is a type of disease which is there with you from birth, but it can also happen at a later stage of life due to using certain drugs or some diseases. If you consult a doctor, then he can easily tell you the cause of it. This disease is mostly seen in men when compared to women. If you consult a doctor, then he can easily tell you that you are suffering from this disease or not by simple tests. If you are born with this disease, then there is no treatment for it but with the help of some advanced contact lenses and glasses, some of the patients start telling differences between some of the colors.

Uveitis-

This disease is actually a group of diseases that cause inflammation in uvea. Uvea is the middle layer within the eye that has blood vessels in it. These diseases are very dangerous and can cause serious damage to the eye by damaging the eye tissues and can result in eyesight loss as well. The symptoms of this disease can go away quickly or even can remain there for a long time. People having various immune diseases like AIDS, ulcerative colitis, etc. are more prone to get infected by this disease. The symptoms of this disease are- Light Sensitivity, Eye Pain, Eye Redness and Blurred Vision. If you have any of these symptoms and they do not go away within a few days, then you should immediately consult a doctor. There are various kinds of treatments depending on the type of Uveitis you have.
