Best poses of yoga for knee pain

Almost everyone suffers from knee problems at some point in their life. Why go for a surgery when you can practice yoga for knee pain. The major muscles to be focused upon are the quadriceps, hamstrings, inner and outer thighs.

Following are some amazing exercises of yoga for your knee problems:

  • Chair pose or Utkatasana Pose - With your feet and legs together, lift your chest and sit back and down pretending there is a chair this exercise helps in toning the whole body as well as making the muscles around the knee stronger.
  • High lunge pose or Utthita Ashwa Sanchalanasana  – Go into a deep lunge position with your front leg at about 90 degrees. Raise your arms above your head and look straight. This yoga exercise for knee pain strengthens the quadriceps, calves, and the muscles around the knee.
  • Bridge Pose or Sarvangasana -  This pose not only strengthens knee but also soothes knee pain. Lie down on your back with your knees bent and feet on the floor. Lift your body up while your shoulders are still touching the ground. This pose of yoga for knee pain focuses on hamstrings and glutes.
  • Hero pose or Virasana – Yoga for knee pain works wonders as it increases blood circulation and stretches the muscles of your legs, thighs, and knees. All you need to do is sit between heels in a straight kneeling position with your feet apart.
