Program

During this holiday, you will start each day with a healthy breakfast followed by a surf lesson. During the afternoon, you will enjoy a variety of yoga classes at the sea-view studio. You may enjoy Hatha, Vinyasa flow, or Ashtanga yoga styles. You will definitely have an experience that you will never forget.

Surf lessons

You will enjoy the surf lessons right at Cape Town’s most famous surf break, Muizenberg. This surf break is famous because there is no rip currents, no reefs, it has mild water temperature and gentle, clean surf that provides long rides and plenty of open faces to hone your skills on.

Yoga lessons

Yoga is the practice of combining body, mind, and breath. You will enjoy of practicing yoga right at the studio, overlooking the beautiful ocean. There are a variety of styles through a diverse team of local Yogis. You will be provided with mats and props so you just need to bring comfortable clothes.

Iyengar yoga

By paying close attention to anatomical details and the alignment of each posture, Iyengar yoga is the practice of precision. The poses are held for long periods and often modified with props. This method is designed to systematically cultivate strength, flexibility, stability, and awareness, and can be therapeutic for specific conditions.

Hatha yoga

Most forms of yoga in the west can be classified as Hatha yoga. Hatha simply refers to the practice of physical yoga postures, meaning your Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Iyengar, and Power yoga classes are all Hatha yoga. The word “Hatha” can be translated two ways; as “willful” or “forceful,” or the yoga of activity, and as “sun” (ha) and “moon” (tha), the yoga of balance. Hatha practices are designed to align and calm your body, mind, and spirit in preparation for meditation.

Ashtanga yoga

This dynamic, physically demanding practice synchronizes breath and movement to produce an internal heat designed to purify the body. Ashtanga yoga, with its many Vinyasas, is great for building core strength and toning the body. Prepare to sweat as you briskly move through a set sequence

Accommodation

During this holiday, you will stay either in a shared or a private room. All rooms at Cape Town Surf Yoga are simply decorated with wooden floors, high ceilings, and private rooms have sweeping sea-views, some with their own private balconies. There are multiple areas to relax, from quiet reading nooks, sunny lounges, a massive balcony to watch the waves from, a games room, to a roof-top terrace with 360-degree views of the surroundings.

The hot water is solar heated and there is free Wi-Fi available in the common areas. You can stay in one of the six double rooms or in one of the three balcony rooms. They all have sea views and come equipped with bedside tables and reading lamps. The balcony rooms also have a table and chairs so you can soak up the views.

This holiday will be held at Cape Town Surf Yoga facilities in Muizenberg, South Africa. Cape Town Surf Yoga is set in a historical building right on the beach at the iconic Surfer's Corner in Muizenberg, a coastal suburb which is 20 minutes away from the city center.

The area is wedged in between the evergreen slopes of the Table Mountain belt with a wide variety of plant and animal life, great hiking trails, and the temperate of the Southern Atlantic Ocean. Several quaint seaside villages are within a walking distance and offer many coffee shops, galleries, and points of interest. There is also a train service with regular departures to the city center.

Things to Do

During your free time, you will have lots of different activities to do in the middle of the day to give a well-rounded experience of the beautiful surrounds. Guided hikes up the mountain, visits to the penguin sanctuary, and horse-riding along the beach, are some of those activities.

During this experience, you will be served one daily delicious and healthy breakfast plus access to the coffee and tea-making facilities.

Cape Town Surf Yoga always has a choice of three delicious, super-food infused breakfasts on offer plus top quality freshly ground coffee, chai lattes, and the unique super food drink called "Rocket Choc" which is a sure fire way to maximize your energy and mental focus. Johann Kotze and Mandla Ndlovu

Johann Kotze
Johann Kotze is one of the most experienced yoga teachers in Cape Town. He has shared his practical and philosophical interest in yoga since 1990 with 1,000 students. Getting beginners going with the essentials of an effective yoga practice is one of his specialties. Johann also makes it his mission to present the powerful advanced skills of yoga in an accessible way to all levels of practitioners. His gentle power flow Vinyasa style is a mix of modern and traditional elements.

Mandla Ndlovu
Mandla is a super mellow character packed with tons of skills and loves helping people. The love of surfing grew really fast for this ex skater as has been surfing for the past decade. Sharing is one of the best gifts anyone could have. Mandla loves to share information and knowledge as he is member of the International Surfing Association, Surfing South Africa, and an accredited surf coach. He is also part of the World Surf League and a level two judge.
