This Yin yoga teacher training will provide a beautiful space for you to completely immerse yourself and enjoy learning more about Yin yoga. It is open to those wanting to teach, already teaching, or those doing it for their own understanding. The theoretical knowledge and linked practical sessions will allow you to explore how to apply this to your own well being and others, so it can become a tool to promote healing and create balance. With the careful instruction, you will develop the skills to deliver effective professional classes and have the confidence to assist in adjustments. You will learn how to listen to your own intuitive wisdom and how to be present to the subtle messages the body offers, learning how to both listen and respond. It will empower you to feel your emotions, to reopen shut down senses, and then to allow all the sensations and emotions flow through you as you learn to let go.

Program

This training gives 55-hours credit with Yoga Alliance for Registered Yoga Teachers., as 50 contact hours and five hours of self-study, reading work, practice, and specific assignments.

Daily schedule

  • 06:00 - 06:45 Meditation at the beach using the senses
  • 07:00 - 09:00 Two hours Yin or Yang morning practice in the yoga shala

Accommodation

The principles of Vastu have been a guiding concept in the design of the bungalows at H2O Yoga and Meditation Center. 'Vastu' is India's ancient Vedic tradition of design, architecture, and sacred space, often called 'the yoga of design'. It is believed to create harmony and health in one's living space. The bungalows are built from local natural materials and have beautifully thatched roofing. They are simple yet comfortable and offer a peaceful retiring space.

H2O provides teacher training participants with a shared poolside bungalow (four beds) and private bathroom. All rooms are equipped with fans, clean sheets, and towels. For more private accommodation, we do have standard bungalows and deluxe for an additional cost.

At the heart of H2O is an inspiring open-aired, circular yoga shala with a high-domed natural thatch roof. Classes are intimately set amongst natural beauty and thus offer a deep sense of earth connection, healing, and freedom.

Food

H20 Yoga and Meditation Centre have a fantastic restaurant, which is Gluten Free/Vegan/Vegetarian. There are also other healthy cafes and restaurants very close by.

Food on Gili Air is unpretentious and is made with predominantly locally sourced ingredients. Some of the most appetizing options are the local Indonesian specialties, such as Gado gado; steamed veggies with a delicious peanut sauce, or nasi campur; white rice with a selection of vegetables, tofu, tempeh, chicken, or fish.

Chicken or freshly caught fish sate is also popular choices as well as 'urap urap'; veggies with grated coconut. Ask for the local sambal (chili sauce) to give your dish an extra zing. Vegetarians will find the local dishes with their prolific use of tempe a viable meal option.

Restaurants tend to specialize in freshly grilled seafood and Indonesian dishes. Cheap beachside establishments cater for western palates and often serve Thai, Italian, and Chinese food also. Be sure to head inland to try the authentic local cuisine!

Fruit juices are ubiquitous throughout the island's eateries. The water of fresh young coconuts is a real treat and incredibly refreshing. Also, there are many 'warungs' on the island; small kitchens, usually attached to someone's home that serve good quality Indonesian dishes.

There is one main supermarket, where most food staples can be purchased, including natural yogurt. Bear in mind that being an island, Gili Air is subject to fresh goods arriving by boat, and hence fruit selection varies from day today. Papayas, bananas, avocados, and pineapple are always in abundance, as well as mangos in season. Exotic local fruits such as mangosteens, rambutan (local lychees), and dragon fruit are also widely available when in season.

Claire Green

Claire has over 1,200 hours of teacher training and 15 years of teaching experience; completing 500 hours with the British Wheel of Yoga in 2005; Birthlight pregnancy yoga training in 2009. She gained the British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course Teacher Trainer certification in 2011 delivering British Wheel of Yoga training. In 2014 she completed Forrest Yoga Advanced Yoga Training before furthering her training by completing 500-hour with Maggie Reach studying yin yoga therapy, yoga philosophy, chanting, and Ayurveda, she completed further Yin Yoga training with Jo Phee and Joe Barnett.
