This 200-hour yoga teacher training course is a pure Ashtanga Vinyasa course. Designed for the western yogi/yogini, this Ashtanga Vinyasa course will be your opportunity to learn primary series as taught by Pattabhi Jois (Mysore style). During your course, you will learn

The Art of Sequencing and Movement Yoga is Dance by T. Krishnamacharya. The Yoga Cave Initiative in the west usually look at yoga as a flow or movement-based "thing". However, in India for thousands of years, yoga has been practiced with strong static postures. Hatha yogis of timeless Natha or Naga traditions have often been known to just practice one static posture for the entire life. Prathabi Jois himself designed the primary and secondary series of sequence, which is known as m The Yoga Cave initiative aspires to give you the most authentic and blissful experience of classical yoga.

During your course, you will explore how to thread one posture to another posture. The art of moving from one posture to another is known as "Vinyasa". They will teach you the art of Vinyasa and how to thread your postures to create sequences in a way where your practice of yoga becomes like a dance or moving meditation. This art will enable you to formulate your own sequence in a safe and systematic manner.

"Sequential creative movements that interlink postures to form a continuous flow; It creates a “movement meditation" that reveals all forms as being impermanent and for this reason are not held on to” - Gregor Maehale.

Abhyasya Vairagyam

Vairagyam often is referred to as a state of renunciation or detachment that one enters when they participate in intense spiritual austerities like yoga, fasting, and ecstatic dancing. In Patanjali yoga sutra, it has been stated that the key to enter the state of Samadhi through yoga is to experience "Abhayasa Vairagyam".

This is a state of mind that a yogi can enter during the intense practice of yoga. During your course, they will encourage you to live a holistic lifestyle that will assist you in experiencing abhyasa vairagyam. They will teach you how to align and connect, breath (Ujjayi), and movement to create a practice that will transform your current yoga practice to the next level.

Pranayama and meditation

Every morning your day will start with some form of pranayama, meditation, or Satsang. They will explore all common as well as not so common pranayamas and meditation techniques like Kapalabhati, Ujjayi breath, Nadi Shodhana. You will often chant Sanskrit mantras and om chanting in the morning.

Daily asana practice

As an Ashtanga course, you will have a strong daily regime of asana practice. In the morning you will attend the Ashtanga class. In the evening there will be a master class. Each Asana has fundamental integrity, with the proper breath, Drishti and movement, they will teach you the fundamentals of all major yoga posture.

Although they all bring their own flavor and style of yoga, yet they are most committed to the teaching of Vinyasa and Hatha. Currently, they are working on their own style called Rudra Hatha Vinyasa and a TTC on this specialism will be launched in the coming future. A typical day during your course

During your training, you will have an opportunity to live by the rhythm of nature. The yoga training schedule begins at 6:15 a.m. with a short morning prayer followed by a pranayama session. Then there comes the morning session for the traditional yoga postures (Hatha yoga) before the breakfast.

Then there will be two main sessions; one philosophy and the other yoga anatomy followed by lunch at noon. Then there will be some self-study and self-practice time after before you begin the afternoon and evening sessions of Vinyasa yoga asanas followed by relaxation and meditation.

There will be some inspirational cultural activities, such as Satsang (devotional songs), lectures on yoga-related subjects, audios, and video lectures. The weekly assignments will be a part of the training as that is conducive to gain in-depth knowledge of the subjects and experience through your yoga practices. During this yoga teacher training, you will be provided with three yoga vegetarian meals including fruit refreshments and green tea. The Yoga Cave initiative encourages the students to go sleep early about 10 p.m. as that is conducive to the yoga training.
