Yoga Here & There's Mission and Philosophy
Their mission is to make the world understand that a hug, a deep breath in, a prayer, and a handstand are all yoga. They believe that yoga is suitable for people of all ages, sizes, conditions, and backgrounds; and yes, yoga can be challenging but not because you must be able to stand on your head (which you really don’t need to).
A welcoming space
Though Yoga Here & There remains students forever themselves, they intend to spread a genuine love for the eight limbs of yoga across the globe by teaching a variety of styles and paths of yoga. They want to contribute to a sustainable world where all can live with more respect, empathy, and love for each other and the planet. They do this by creating a safe space where they welcome everybody.
Whilst upholding the highest quality standards, they aim to make yoga accessible for everyone. The main objective is to show that there is no one-yoga-fits-all when it comes to practicing or teaching. What you practice, may not be the right practice for someone else and may not be what you need later. You are encouraged to always have an open and flexible mind.

The evening sessions can also be asana, meditation, and pranayama but will focus on the more gentle types of practices. This could be Yin, Restorative, Dynamic meditation, Yoga Nidra, Voice and body expression, or any other mindfulness practice. Whilst the objective of these evening sessions is for you to enjoy some stress release and restorative practices, they are also a way to learn how to run slower-paced and mindful classes and workshops.
It's All in the Practice
Aside from asana practice, the course will also provide in-depth presentations about various yoga styles. Delve into the history, philosophy, and lineage of the yoga style in question; the technical aspects of the style, the benefits, and general contraindications for each practice. Yoga Here & There will help you understand which yoga style is appropriate for who and why. You will learn the same about pranayama, meditation, and other yoga-related practices such as Kriyas and chanting.
During these workshops, you will de- and reconstruct the most fundamental yoga asanas. You will dissect each pose, demonstrate the alignment which can vary per yoga style and the potential physical limitations. You will point out contraindications and the injury risks and go through various modifications for each pose, including the use of props and introduce possible adjustments and assists.
Have you ever experienced adjustments that didn't make any sense to your body? The knowledge you gain in Asana Labs is essential for the well-being of your students and is of great benefit to your own practice.
This module gives you all the general tools you need to lead an inclusive, safe, and engaging class or workshop. You will discuss what yoga is and how yoga can mean something different to different people. You will learn about what it takes to be the best kind of teacher you can be. You get presentations on how to prepare a class, including classroom management, sequencing a funky flow, how to cue clearly, and how to adapt to unexpected circumstances.
Yoga Here & There emphasizes how important it is for you to find your own teaching personality so that your students will see your value and your intentions for what they are.
Above all, this training focuses on giving you as much teaching time as possible. You are given teaching practice assignments on several occasions, leading to a final teaching assessment in the last week. They will build up your teaching experience from teaching a single asana in the first week to several longer classes towards the end of the program.
You will learn how to closely observe your students and get the opportunity to experiment in teaching different styles, pranayama, meditation, and mindfulness practices. You will be constantly encouraged to find your personal teaching style.
Anatomy and Physiology
You will be presented with essential and basic knowledge of the human body and learn how it applies to yoga (asana) practice. You will extensively deal with the musculoskeletal system and touch upon the nervous system and the fascial meridians. Yoga Here & There will make these classes as interactive as possible to give you a practical understanding of this scientific subject. Injury management and prevention are an important part of this subject. You will also get to expand on yogic anatomy, the subtle body, and prana; including chakras, koshas, and bandhas.
History and Philosophy
This module covers the historical development, fundamental concepts, and scriptures of yoga philosophy. In many yoga schools, this aspect of yoga is overlooked, reducing yoga to a mere physical exercise. You do not need to be a spiritual hippie to find these classes fascinating. They cover many subjects ranging from different philosophies and ancient practices of yoga to important historical texts.
To complete the program, Yoga Here & There offers several other subjects that are relevant to yoga from Business Aspects of Yoga to Yogic Lifestyle. The main activities in Amed are scuba diving, freediving, trekking, and yoga. This is also the place to catch a boat to the famous Gili Islands. All the basics are available in Amed (mozzie spray, snacks, toiletries, etc.). However, there is no doctor, medical center, or pharmacy in town.
